I actually got started in camera stuff as a kid with my nana's old Canon PowerShot SX130IS. I loved to take pictures and make silly videos or host fake podcasts when I'd visit her. Fast-forward some years and now I'm branching out into the world of cameras! I decided to start with a basic but extremely capable camera. And I went with Canon for my familiarity with their products, features, and my preference for their color science. This led me to the R8, the cheapest but most up-to-date Canon mirrorless full-frame camera. While I sometimes wish I had gone with the R6 mkii, I can always appreciate the savings from choosing the R8 instead. Besides, I can always upgrade to something like the R5 mkii later on.

I'm currently rocking the R8 of course, but I'm about to be getting the R7 to add to my kit. It's the absolute best APS-C mirrorless Canon has to offer, and I'm looking for more performance in a small package for sports and wildlife. And the IBIS will be a huge upgrade from my R8, allowing me to use even old manual film lenses and still get stabilization!
