Lawler is running to be the senator of the 23rd District of Maine in the state senate. Aside from this campaign, Lawler ran for the Maine House of Representatives for the 50th district back in 2020. However, he lost the election against democrat Ralph Tucker. He has lived in Maine for the majority of his life, but Lawler was born in Omaha, Nebraska and served in the Air Force earlier in his life. He also previously worked for Datapoint, Racal Milgo, Apple Computer, and a private consultancy. He has not made many public comments on his stances on most issues in this election cycle.
Lawler is in favor of restricting access to abortion, stating that "If the child in the womb is viable and aborted, that’s murder."
