Daughtry was born and raised in Brunswick where she attended and graduated from Brunswick High School before attending Smith College down in Massacuchets to get her college degree. Daughtry currently owns a Maine based photo and videoagraphy company and is a co-owner at Moderation Brewing company. Futhermore, she founded the news station and department at WOZQ 91.9 FM and serves as a curator for VSA Arts for Maine, an organization based in Brunswick focused on ensuring even disabled Maine citizens are still exposed to artwork. Daughtry has held office as the 23rd district senator for the Maine state senate since 2022.
Daughtry is in support of reproductive freedom in Maine; in 2023, she voted to pass a bill pre-empting restrictions on reproductive rights by protecting women's rights to abortion access. (Maine House Bill 1343).
Daughtry sees the lack of affordable and safe housing as one of the major challenges in his community. She sees an important aspect of this issue being the "heavy property tax burden[s]" that homeowners face.
Daughtry believes that preserving Maine's waterfronts and healthy ecosystems for those working on the waters and lands is one of the most important issues to the state. She believes in collaboration between public owners, private owners, the government, and scientists to make long-term plans to address climate change.
In 2024, Daughtry voted to pass a bill amending rules relating to firearms and prioritizing access to mental health resources in Maine, demonstrating her support for a greater emphasis on equal access to healthcare.
