I am first and foremost the proud husband of Anne Bernard-Bourgeois and father of Alexandre and Jérémie.
We form a very loving family, the most important ‘thing’ in my life.
My community is a close second. Employment comes third.
Anne and I are a couple since 1989. She held several management and teaching positions in the Anglophone East School District, including Bessborough School, until her recent retirement. She is now working as a speaker and workshop facilitator in education.
I am a researcher by training and by trade. My specialty is public policy analysis. I achieved my PhD in that subject. My research focuses on municipalities, health authorities, school boards and regional service commissions. I conducted several research projects on these subjects and taught them for several years at the Université de Moncton. I published 2 books and 28 scientific articles, as well as over 70 applied research reports.
In my work, I conduct research to help governments and community groups here and abroad plan and achieve measurable results by adopting, implementing and evaluating governance policies and strategic and operational plans.
I love my community and give back as much as I can. Since adolescence, I have volunteered on 10 community organisations and sat on the board of directors of 7 of these organisations, including one of our local school boards.
I have served 13 years on Council, having been elected in 2008, 2012 and 2021.
As a councillor, I presided or was a member of several council committees and regional commissions:
· Committee on crime reduction and prevention (Chair), 2025-2026
· Planning Review Committee, 2011-2014 (co-Chair) and 2025-2026
· Social Inclusion Committee, 2010-2016 (co-Chair) and 2022-2026
· Finance Committee, (co-Chair), 2008-2012
· Snow Removal Committee, 2010-2011 (co-Chair) and 2014-2015
· Enhancing Democracy Committee, 2021
· Seniors Advisory Committee (2023-2026)
Codiac Transpo Management Committee (2021-2026)
· Regional Wastewater Commission (TransAqua), 2013-2015
· Codiac Regional Police Authority (CRPA), 2008-2009
Serving on Council is by far my most important, rewarding and interesting contribution to my community.
