Player Name: Carly
Full Name: Annari Neuriko
Nicknames and Pseudonyms: Annie. New Waver.
Age: 30
Birth Date: June 28, 2283
Blood Type: AB+
Role on Ship: Crew Medic
Homeworld: Warden Station
Significant Relations and Affiliations: Parents - Ty and Mia (both deceased); Siblings - Meri (deceased) and Rocco. Dr Lemour Bennedon, head of the New Wave program. Brys and Copper, fellow recruits of the New Wave program. Driss Oberon, ex-first mate/lover.
Bonds, Obligations, Debts, and Warrants: After being discharged from the CDF army when she was 21, Annari owed a large debt to the CDF’s New Wave Program. Now with only a few short years left on her debt, Daeva Dragao recently bought the debt from the CDF which means Annari has to pay back the Head of the Dragon Network, as well as fulfill any “side jobs” Daeva assigns her. After Daeva doublecrossed her and the crew, Annari stopped all payments.
Appearance: Standing 5' 4" tall, Annari is small but she has never let her height hold her back. She has a fighter physique, due to her years of army training, and has a few faded scars on her body. Her honey-brown hair, which has a natural wave to it, reaches just below her shoulder blades and she likes to add a few strands of purple to her hair.
She has brown eyes, and a faded small scar on her right cheek. She has four tattoos - 1) the New Wave symbol on her back right shoulder (a circle with a wave created with three separate bars), 2) her recruit number running vertically beside it, and 3) her sister’s name ‘Meri’ in scriptive font on the side of her ring finger on her right hand and 4) her most recent tattoo, a small purple watercolor butterfly on her right hip - the inspiration from a drawing Driss had gifted her for her 30th birthday.
Annari keeps her wardrobe fairly simple and neutral - leather jacket, cotton t-shirts, dark pants and army boots. She spent a few years in her early 20s during her ‘trying to find who she was outside of New Wave’ phase where she tried all the fashion trends - bright colours, different fabrics, tight clothing, big jewelry etc. - to see what she liked, only to finally settle on more casual, neutral tones.
Personality: Annari is a disciplined and stoic presence, shaped by her years as both a soldier and a medic. She strives to maintain an even temperament. Calm, collected, and precise, especially when it comes to her work. In crisis, she usually defaults to structure and action, keeping her head clear and her hands steady. She is intelligent, reliable, and methodical, her focus sharpened by a deep sense of responsibility.
She can be kind and nurturing when the moment calls for it, just as she can be firm and decisive when duty demands. Her humour tends to be dry and sarcastic, and though she can still be a little awkward in social situations, she’s grown more comfortable with connection over time.
Beneath her composure lies a well of deeply felt emotion that she rarely lets show. Guarded and reserved, Annari doesn’t trust easily, but once someone earns her trust, her affection and loyalty are unwavering.
Annari’s self-control was hard-won. Anger has always been her shadow, born of childhood trauma and left patchworked during her New Wave years. She’s learned to master it through discipline, training, and occasional suppressants, but in moments of extreme stress, that restraint can falter, giving way to recklessness and danger. Though these flare-ups are rare, the memory of them lingers, driving her to maintain constant vigilance over herself. Trauma has scarred her but never broken her; and she channels pain into resolve. Annari is a stoic protector with a hidden tenderness; a woman who carries the weight of others without complaint, even as she quietly shoulders her own.
Strengths, Talents, Abilities: Annari is a highly skilled medic specializing in combat medical skills - emergency treatment, stabilizing treatment, preventative medical treatment, surgery techniques, anesthetics, etc. She also has physical combat skills, and can fire a gun just as easily as she can take it apart and put it back together again. She is also a quick learner and resourceful. One of Annari’s greatest strengths lies in her composure under pressure. Years of military training and her experience as a medic have honed her ability to think clearly and act decisively in moments of chaos. Her resilience is remarkable; though trauma has left its mark, she refuses to let it control her, pushing through pain and fear with sheer determination. Loyalty anchors her; once someone has earned her trust, she will protect them fiercely, often placing their needs above her own. Beyond her toughness, she possesses a quiet compassion that surfaces in small, intimate gestures—offering patience, care, or companionship in ways that mean more than grand declarations ever could.
Annari’s new mutation allows her to trace the origin of objects through touch, almost like a built-in compass. The closer the source, the more precise the information, touching a button might lead her directly to the shirt it came from, and if it’s nearby, she could even pinpoint its location within a room or on a specific floor. The farther away the origin, the fuzzier the sense becomes, giving only a general direction. The “pull” toward the object functions like a magnetic attraction, weakening with distance.
Weaknesses and Fears: Annari finds it difficult to trust and rarely lets people get close. Though she’s led a more ordinary life in recent years, her formative time spent apart from the general populace still shows in the faint pause before a response, in how she reads a room just a little differently, never quite losing that sense of being slightly outside it.
Annari’s greatest fear is losing control: of her temper or her ability to protect those around her. Rare now but never forgotten, the memory of past incidents and outbursts still linger, and though she’s long learned restraint, the thought of that side of herself resurfacing unsettles her deeply. She fears failing the people who depend on her, whether through a mistake, a moment of hesitation, or simply not being enough when it matters most.
Her stoicism, once a survival skill, has hardened into a barrier, keeping her emotions so tightly contained that she struggles to express them even to those she cares about. Her fierce loyalty and protective instincts, while admirable, often drive her to take on too much alone, pushing herself past exhaustion rather than risk appearing vulnerable.
History: Annari was born on the Warden Station -- not that she remembers much about it or her family. All her memories of the space station were grey - the actual colour grey. Grey clothes. Grey beds. Grey food. Even her family, what little she remembered of them, all seemed like varying shades of grey.
Her parents had been ship-refit mechanics, and she had two older siblings, Rocco and Meri, who were supposed to look after her while her parents worked their long hours. Rocco was 10 years her elder, and was very much not in the mind to look after a baby. He would always leave Meri to look after Annari so that he could run around the docks with his friends, getting into trouble. Meri was 7 years Annari’s elder, and was a kind and gentle soul. Meri taught her to speak, to stand, and to walk. She would cook for her, clean up after her - and became Annari’s pseudo-mother. She was the only bright spot of Annari’s memories from Warden.
When Annari was 6, her parents both died in an explosion on the docks. In one fell swoop, the Neuriko clan had lost both parents and their main means of income. Rocco, being 16, was of the age to take custody of his sisters, but instead surrendered them to the station’s orphanage. Rocco had gotten in more trouble than he had ever bargained for over the years, and had incurred a mountain of debts at Warden - so his only solution was to cut and run, abandoning his sisters at the same time.
For the first few months, Meri and Annari were allowed to stay together aboard the station’s orphanage, but they were ultimately separated when Meri was relocated to another orphanage off station. Annari cried and screamed when Meri left. She kicked and bit anyone who tried to get near her, lashing out because she didn’t understand why she couldn’t be with her sister.
Maybe it was because she was difficult and no one else wanted her that Annari found herself shipped to a Dr Lemour Bennedon who was looking for orphans for a program he was running within The Coalition Defense Force, called New Wave. New Wave was the brainchild of Dr. Bennedon, who was a behavioral scientist working with the Coalition. He surmised that if you started to teach children at a young age basic army skills and then continue to condition them as they got older, by the time they were of enlistment age they would be highly trained soldiers that would be monumental assets to the force. They would be a new sort of soldier, more loyal and more highly skilled.
The program started with thirty kids aged six, and the first few years the kids were taught basics - reading, writing, arithmetic, and daily physical education. Annari, not fully understanding the program at age 6, liked that she was being fed and enjoyed learning, but she was rambunctious, and found ways of getting into trouble all the time, especially that first year. But she was a quick learner and the more they taught her the more she took it all in like a sponge and soon started to thrive - unlike some of the other children in the program. As the years went on, the group of kids got smaller and smaller as some were let go from the program.
By the age of 12, the kids that were still in the program took an aptitude test so they could start specialized training. Annari’s specialization was medic training, and so on top of her daily physical and combative training, army drills, regiment training and in class education, she started to train in emergency and trauma medicine.
As much as fraternizing was tried to be kept at a minimum, Dr. Bennedon did allow the children to form some bonds with each other. Living day in and day out with the same group of people, it was bound to happen, but Annari had a hard time really connecting on a deeper level with most of the other kids - likely due to her trust issues stemming from her brother’s betrayal.
Brys and Copper were the only real ‘friends’ she had - but she felt weird labeling them as friends. She just liked the two of them more than the rest. They both seemed to have similar dispositions to her, and she liked that Brys rolled his ‘r’s and Copper wore her hair short. As they grew into their late teens, the closest she ever got to them both was between the sheets.
When the New Wavers reached age 19, they all underwent long rigorous testing to show their aptitude in their skilled field, their combative skills, and army procedures. Once they passed their tests, and the New Wavers had graduated, they were all enlisted in the military and would be continually monitored. New Wave’s first graduation class had 13 first class lieutenants - Annari being one of them. She was shipped out to Tremar a week later, to join a unit there as their medic.
For two years, Annari traveled frequently between multiple units all over the system gaining experience in the field. Though at first it was a bit difficult getting to know and be around other people. They had been quite isolated in New Wave - and so now she had to adjust to other people, other worlds, and learn about all she had missed. After getting over the initial shock, she tried to embrace the new experiences, the new foods, the new people - as best she could. Though she was still unsure of it all and kept to herself quite a lot.
Two years into her active duty, she was contacted by a Hospital on Paradise. Her name had been given as a potential next of kin for Meri Neuriko, who had been brought in after having a severe reaction to what the doctors thought was Supersonic - a highly addictive street drug. Annari was granted leave and went to visit her sister as quickly as she could. When Annari arrived, the doctors informed her that her sister’s body was shutting down after years of heavy drug use, and it seemed whatever she had recently taken had been laced with something far worse -- only accelerating the deterioration. She was dying and they only gave her a few days left to live.
Annari and Meri reunited - though her sister was too weak to stay conscious for very long, so their conversations always started and stopped rather abruptly. The tale Meri told Annari of her life after they got separated - running away from foster homes, her life on the streets, her drug use and so much more - broke Annari’s heart. How had her dear, sweet sister’s life turned out so horribly wrong? It made Annari ashamed that she hadn’t tried to reach out to Meri sooner, and she couldn’t help but wonder if she had, would things have been different for her sister? Before Meri passed, she had told Annari that she was glad to have seen her one last time. And with tears rolling down Annari’s face she watched her sister slip quietly away.
Surprisingly, Rocco showed up to the hospital - he too had been contacted by the hospital as next of kin. He had survived after all these years, and was now working with a mining corporation on Tenoh. Annari was shocked and angered to see her brother after all this time. She didn’t want him to go anywhere near Meri, and yelled at him for showing up now when he could have done something all those years ago. She let him have it - all the pent up anger she had held for him over all these years - and wailed at him. Their lives could have been all different - Meri could still be alive, if he hadn’t been so cowardly! Rocco hadn’t grown a backbone in all this time, and meekly took the berating from Annari. He tried to apologize, but she wouldn’t have it. As far as she was concerned, he was dead to her too.
Fuming after her encounter with Rocco, Annari’s anger continued to boil and she made a rather bad decision getting into the fight in a local bar. Some jackass had said something about her when she had walked by, and if it had been any other day perhaps she would have let it go, but instead she turned around and let the guy have it. She attacked him - beating him to within an inch of his life, before the bar security pulled her off of him. He ended up with a broken nose and cheekbone, broken collarbone, multiple broken ribs, severe bodily bruising and a busted kneecap.
Annari was given over to the army to be reprimanded for her attack. Of course the guy she had attacked was some rich kid who had some political sway. His ego had been bruised as much as his body, and he demanded she be severely punished. The army was able to quash his request as it was an army matter now and a tribunal would figure out the correct punishment for her.
There was a lot of deliberation amongst the tribunal, given she was a New Waver and what that would mean. In the end she was discharged from the army, but she was also expected to pay back the military and program for the costs she incurred for New Wave. The debt was a small fortune and would keep her in debt to them for years to come.
After her dismissal, Annari hit a very low point in her life. She traveled through the system looking for jobs to keep her afloat and pay back her debt. Any purpose she had once felt, now was solely focused on paying back the debt - even though she resented the fact she had to pay it back at all given she hadn’t any say in joining the program in the first place. She found work in small medical clinics on a few planets and stations, and even on a luxury cruise ship, but she continued to jump from one job to the next with no real trajectory as they never paid her enough to sustain herself long term. After a few years of this, an old army contact told her that they were always in need of doctors on Cantra - the prison planet - and they tended to pay well and would not care about her discharge. It was perfect as it meant she could start paying back her debt in larger sums. She got a job as a prison doctor for one company that owned multiple prisons and rotated through a few of them over a couple years. She ultimately was let go when she asked the wrong questions about some questionable practices.
Finding herself on Mori’s Landing some time after, she had been waiting in a local bar for her ride out when she was hit on by a handsome stranger, Driss Oberon. Once past the ‘not interested’ phase, the two struck up a conversation and he mentioned he was the first mate on a ship that was leaving the next day and was in need of a medic. At the time she had to decline, as she had already got another gig lined up. But the next day when her ride and gig fizzled out, she found herself racing across the docks calling Driss to see if the offer still stood. And that’s how she met and joined the crew of The Hellion.
Her first impression was chaotic - as one of the crew members, CJ, had been recently stabbed and she had to immediately use her medical skills to operate. It was difficult, especially with one of the other crew members, Seth, constantly getting in the way (emotionally and physically distraught over the situation). Eventually she was able to patch CJ up and had proven her worth to the crew enough to be offered a job.
Driss and her kept circling each other with playful banter and flirting, until they woke up in bed together (fully clothed) after a night out during the Pride festivities on Hermes; with little memory of what had occurred. It would be a few weeks later, early one morning when truths finally came out and they hooked up properly. She had said she didn’t want anything serious. So did he. But when he abruptly left to follow their old captain, Rune, a few months later, something cracked in Annari making her realize maybe she had fallen more for him than she had wanted to admit.
It was around the same time that Daeva Dragao purchased her debt from the CDF. This was of great concern to Annari and made her more anxious than ever. To be under debt to the Head of the Dragon Network introduced too many variables that she hadn’t had to deal with before. Daeva was an unknown entity and could change the terms at any time. Of course Daeva said she would keep to the same payment terms, and even said she would give Annari little ‘jobs’ that would help go towards the repayment of her debt. Annari didn’t like the sound of that, and had assumed they would be jobs utilizing her medical skills. Turned out the jobs would also include intimidation, and acting as courier as well.
Of course it had been a calculated move by Daeva when Annari had still been part of the Hellion crew, in order for Daeva to enact more control over that crew, particularly the captain Rune. It was probably a bit of a surprise to Daeva when Rune and Driss departed with the Hellion leaving the rest of the crew to band together when Seth won the Pōmaika'i a Sila, but Daeva continued to keep her claws in Annari, and by proxy the rest of their crew. This of course continues to weigh on Annari because the crew have become family to her, and she hates the idea of them being in trouble because of her. With everything they have gone through, Seth, CJ, Zeke, Charlie and now Nebula, are the family she never had. And the family she wants to protect.
At the beginning of 2314, Annari and the crews’ lives were a storm of danger, loss, and unexpected connection. The year began with a brutal vamp attack that left her wounded and shaken. Not long after, she and the others were kidnapped and held captive on Titan by the Smocks, a traumatic ordeal underlined by Daeva’s betrayal in selling them out. During their imprisonment, Annari faced the devastating news that Driss and Rune had died by torture at the hands of the Smocks, and witnessed a vamp brutally sever Nebula’s leg; events that tested her resilience and haunted her in quiet moments afterward.
Amid the chaos, there were moments of light: officiating CJ and Seth’s wedding offered joy and a sense of normalcy, and quietly, a slow, tentative bond began to grow with Trig, offering her a connection she rarely allows herself to feel.
And after answering a distress call to find an abandoned ship, she along with others on the crew developed a mutation. For her, a spatial-tracking ability that lets her trace the origin of objects through touch, a power that draws her like a compass and reshapes how she perceives the world.

What is your character's favorite color?
Purple
Does your character prefer the book or the movie?
Movie
What is your character's typical morning routine? Do they stick to it or does it vary?
Annari is an early riser and likes to stick to a routine when she can. She always makes her bed, something instilled in her from her New Wave days. She usually puts on workout gear and either goes for a run or a run/gym session. She then will have a shower, and grab something to eat with a green tea to drink.
What is your character's Zodiac sign? Does it suit them?
Her zodiac sign is Cancer, and she has many of the typical traits often associated with the sign - nurturing, sensitive, and self-protective. Guided by emotion, those born under the sign can have a difficult time blending into the world around them - often a product of childhood when they didn’t gain enough coping mechanisms for the outside world. Cancers’ can deal with internal mysteries and create fleeting emotional patterns that are beyond their control. Annari’s anger management problem can be traced back all the way to her childhood traumas.
What is your character's favorite food?
Spicy peanut noodles
Does your character have any hidden talents or skills?
None that she knows of.
What TV/movie/literary character, etc is your character most like? Alternately, what is your character's trope?
There is definitely a part of Daisy Johnson from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in her - and not just as a visual reference. She is compassionate and witty, and has a strong need to connect with others though she isn’t really vocal or forthcoming about that desire to belong. And she can kick ass!
What is your character's relationship with their parents? What made it that way?
Annari barely remembers her parents. They died in an explosion when she was 6. Her older sister, Meri, was much more of a parent to her than what she can remember of them. Years later she romanticized the idea of them, not having any real reference point or memory of them.
Does your character have any siblings? If so, do they get along? If not, do they wish they had siblings?
She had 2 siblings - Meri and Rocco. When their parents died, Rocco, who was the oldest, was meant to look after the girls. Except he abandoned both sisters to the orphanage and ran. Annari has never forgiven him. He is still alive but he might as well be dead to her. It's been years since they had any contact.
Annari adored Meri when she was little, as Meri looked after her the most. Meri unfortunately died of an overdose when Annari was 21. Annari has so much regret for not reconnecting with Meri sooner.
Does your character have any extended family they're close with?
No. Annari has no other family.
Favorite family member and why?
Meri. She loved her. She was Annari’s truest parent, even though she was only a few years older than her.
Least favorite family member and why?
Her brother, Rocco. Annari can never forgive him for abandoning both Meri and her.
How does your character feel about or deal with family gatherings?
Not applicable, as she’s never had any.
What are your character's feelings about their childhood?
Complicated. She has some early happy memories of her family - primarily Meri - up to the age of 6. But once she was put into the orphanage, separated from her sister and ultimately ended up in New Wave, everything changed. She didn’t have a normal childhood at New Wave. Instead of “play”, everything was replaced with training, discipline and behavioural trials.
There is a lot of trauma there that she has never dealt with - and is very much the root of her anger management problems. She is angry with the New Wave program for taking her childhood away from her.
How does your character feel about *having* a family someday?
She never thought she would have one. Never thought it to be a goal in life. But deep down she secretly wants it. Even if she doesn’t know she wants it. To belong. To be loved and to love someone and create a family together.
What kind of parent would they be? Do they think they would make a good one?
Annari thinks she wouldn’t be a good parent, even if she probably would be. She is kind, and patient, and actually loves interacting with children. But the idea of having her own seems so foreign to her.
What did your character want to be when they grew up? Why? Did they attain that goal, or why did they give it up?
Before the New Wave, toddler Meri may have wanted to be a teacher. She probably liked to put all her toys in a row and tell them about things from around the station.
Is your character territorial or prone to sharing? Why? Are there some things they are more territorial about than others?
Annari doesn’t put a lot of stock into personal things. She didn’t have much growing up, and definitely didn’t have anything in New Wave except her clothes, and maybe a few books that they gave her. Since New Wave, she hasn’t really accumulated much to be territorial over. If anything she could be territorial over the people in her life now.
What's your character's desert island pick? i.e. if stranded on a desert island, what would they choose to have with them?
Green tea and a kettle.
What would they ramble endlessly about while high?
Food. Things she ate that she liked. Things she didn’t like. And maybe sometimes about fashion, her secret little obsession.
Any childhood regrets? Something that haunts them to this day, or that they forgot about long ago but comes up every now and then?
She regrets not having a childhood. That it was taken away from her. When she hears of other’s childhoods, make believe games, children’s books, dress up, school, camps, etc. she is quite envious of it.
How do they respond in anger? Do they throw things? Go deadly silent? Slam doors, stomp around, or put an inhuman level of effort into maintaining their composure?
Annari tries her best to avoid anger. Little squabbles here and there she tries to remain as calm as she can because if she lets herself get really angry she can go into a fit of rage. A white hot feeling that erupts through her that she can’t contain or control, and can lead her to physically attack whomever she is angry at with no thought or concern about her actions.
Introvert or extrovert?
Introvert. She would rather be lost in a crowd than have a spotlight on her.
What is their worst habit or flaw? Are they aware of it? How do they feel about it, if so? Does it affect their interactions with other people?
Her anger is her worst flaw, and she is very keenly aware of it. It’s why she tries to hide it, uses suppressing drug patches or basically tries to avoid it knowing she can go from 0 to 11 in a heartbeat and become reckless.
What does their most recent text message say?
I’ll talk to u then
How do they sleep? Side or stomach? Through the night or in fits and starts? Wearing fancy PJs or nothing at all?
Side sleeper, hand tucked under the pillow, and definitely PJs - like a tank top and yoga pants.
How do they respond to embarrassment? Do they try to hide it, or is it incredibly obvious? Do they deflect, are they good natured about it, or do they get angry?
Of course Annari tries to hide it, and not draw attention to herself, but her embarrassment can usually be instantly noticed by how red her cheeks get.
What is the most minor thing you can think of that would make them happy?
Someone making her a cup of tea.
