Boundless Sky - the worldbuilding, plots, and select characters wherein that make up the game as a whole - is the sole creative property of the owners of the game and will not be used for monetary gain. Any intentional likeness in another role-playing game or any form of media is forbidden unless express written consent has been given by said owners.
All individual characters are the sole property of their creators and their intentional likenesses cannot be used in another role-playing game or in any other form of media without express permission from said creator.
Communicate.
Because this game is so intentionally small, communication is even more important here than in most larger games. We expect our players to reach out when too busy to post, let us know about any issues or problems, and ask a lot of questions. We also expect you to come to us if you have ideas for the game or for your character - this is a collaborative setting, and it's necessary for everyone to participate equally.
While we understand that not every game turns out to be a perfect fit for every player, we expect players to let us know if they are unhappy in the game. There's a lot we can do to help if we know about it, and we would love to try and troubleshoot before it feels unfixable.
Participate.
We really mean this. While we understand unexpected things coming up that require your attention in real life, we do need everyone here to at least, as a general rule, be able and eager to meet the minimum requirements of game participation (i.e. posting rate).
Because each player only has one character, each character has a much greater individual impact on the game - both positive and negative. Being a small game that relies mostly on interpersonal interactions between the characters in it, one player's absence is felt that much more strongly.
Collaborate
We really mean this too. Again, because the game is small, you have to be willing to plot with the other members and this includes taking initiative and reaching out for character interactions and relationship building. The mods do not take the lead on interpersonal plots unless they involve one of our characters.
We also expect players to keep an open mind when it comes to plotting and to be willing to build off of the ideas other players present. It's okay to hardline your character's stance when necessary - and you definitely should sometimes! - but listening and meeting in the middle when possible goes a long way.
Be prepared to talk about your character a lot. We love to plot, toss around ideas, joke around, and generally have fun.
Don't be a dick.
We will not tolerate OOC sexism, racism, etc.
IC behavior to this effect is not prohibited, but it's the player's responsibility to resolve conflict resulting from it in game. And the goal should be the character growing more tolerant - not because it wouldn't be realistic to remain intolerant, but because they're not going to last long as crew if they're acting that way.
This is an LGBTQ+ friendly group.
As with the above rule, it may be in-character for your character to treat a character who is LGBTQ+ in an unfriendly manner. The same behavior will never be tolerated from players, though, and anyone using their character as an excuse to engage in this behavior will be asked to leave.
Players need to be attentive to what is going on in and around their scenes, and in general we prefer players who have an eye for detail. (If you're reading this, please remember to include your favorite color in the section of the application that asks if you have any questions for us!)
If you have a problem with another player, take it up with them in a courteous manner in private. If you need mediation, please reach out to the mods.
You must be over 21 to play in this game.
Sex scenes, drug use, and violence are allowed.
They must be appropriately labeled.
We are an adult group and we will likely touch on all sorts of adult themes which will be handled carefully and respectfully. If you are uncomfortable with specific themes, please let us know and we will try to accommodate, but if adult themes in general make you uncomfortable, this may not be the group for you.
No god-modding.
You are in control of your character, and your character alone. Allow the other players in your scene to respond to your writing. Do not write their responses - verbal, physical, or otherwise - for them.
This also applies to NPCs not in your control.
Ask questions! :)
Each player is expected to post at least once a week for their character, though more often is definitely encouraged.
Being unable to meet that commitment on occasion due to IRL reasons is understandable and something we will make room for if you reach out to us.
If a scene is silent for three days, then we'll do an on-board poke.
Two character scene: First poke means that the active scene partner will have the choice to either wait for the next poke or move to another scene. If the inactive player gets poked again, the mods will require the waiting player to move to another scene.
Three or more character scene: First poke means that someone else in the scene needs to post over the inactive player. A second poke against the inactive player, even after the other two have posted again, means the inactive player being removed from the scene to allow the other two to continue.
In the case of any player getting poked twice, consecutively, without any sort of communication, we'll reach out to see if we can help in any way.
When starting a new gameday, we expect each character to be posted into their scene within a week.
If for some reason you don't think you'll make that deadline, we expect you to communicate that to us so we can work with you.
If you don't let us know you can't make the deadline, after one week from gameday start we will assume you are sitting the gameday out and adjust scenes as necessary.
We also expect our players to read each post that hits the board and/or your inbox, not just the ones from the scene your character is currently in.
We average about one to two posts a day, so taking a couple minutes to read any posts that go up will go a long way toward keeping you apprised of what is currently happening in the game. It also helps you to not miss something that your character should be reacting to. Some examples: a character speaking to everyone over the comm system, or a gun shot within hearing range of your scene.
Sometimes we will make an announcement in the Discord channel if there is something major happening that your character should absolutely react to, but not always, and especially not during a high action gameday where a lot of things are happening at once.
While we feel like these are easily manageable guidelines with one main character per player, we do understand that sometimes things happen - maybe you're sick or you've just had a terrible work week, etc. In this case, communication is huge but we expect you to reach out to us privately and ask for that wiggle room. An off-hand mention in the group chat will not be considered a heads up about a late post because it's easy to miss and because we won't take general chatting as a sign that you need more time. You need to actively reach out to us.
As a reminder, we have a Current Gameday page to help keep track of things.
