While many planets, moons, and space stations have their own local slang, there are some terms that have been adopted all throughout the 'Verse. The following is a list of slang that that is generally heard everywhere and is commonly understood.
404: A person who is notably stupid or lacking in good judgment.
Astrogation: space navigation.
Atomic: Inspiring awe; very impressive.
(the) black: space.
Barney: Someone completely at home on EVA, from barnacle.
Class 0: Insult; poor, bad quality.
Credits: not-so-cash money.
Darjela Tea: A popular exported tea from the planet Verbena with a great deal of spice and herbs added.
Datapad: A thin, simple computer with a low resolution screen intended to share or display data reports, statistics, etc. Can be 'written on' with the attached stylus. (A tablet, basically)
Crunch Grubs: A large form of lice accidentally spread across the galaxy that is now a deep-fried and breaded treat available on most stations in lieu of traditional meat-based protein.
Deadhead: virtual reality addict.
Disco: Of an object or place; Something considered disgusting, of poor quality, or otherwise totally unacceptable.
Fine Ice: Diamonds or jewelry
Frag: shoot/blow up/otherwise kill.
Glass: reduce to slag/melt, particularly as a person.
Grey skittles: as referring to sexuality, super duper straight.
Grey stuff: any questionable looking food that is actually amazing.
Gut-Rot: Stomach ache or sickness.
Jam Jar: an older mobile freighter or flight car; shabby, trashy.
Jump/hop/skip: various terms for gate travel.
JBF (just butt fucking): just kidding around.
Kipple: useless anything (junk mail, files, people, etc).
Kish/Kished: Exhausted, as by exertion; fatigued or sleepy or to exhaust the interest, patience, of someone; bore.
Leaky seal: someone who can't keep a secret.
Legend: “Cool” – positive descriptor/reaction, beyond the usual or ordinary.
Meshing: Going into cyberspace, or hacking.
Mudblood: someone so planetbound that they can’t stand space travel; someone stuck on one planet. Also someone who can’t see from another’s POV, an inflexible thinker.
Multipass: get out of jail free card.
"On the gripping hand": where two options (on one hand, while on the other) are overridden by a third, better option.
Pony: Insult; someone who is not strong; liable to yield, break, or collapse under pressure or strain; fragile; frail.
Post-human: people with terraforming mutations.
Roger, Nelson: I understand – sarcastic. Made famous by a web series.
Scratching One from Nine: Pulling off a really close escape or almost dying.
Scruff off: To dress up smartly and clean, in comparison to normally.
Sheima: (Name of a failed terraformed planet, many died) Slang insult; to call a person a Sheima is to refer to them as weak, cowardly, not worth living. Not politically correct.
Slugthrower: projectile weapon (gun with bullets).
Spaceshot: space case, someone who's not 'all there.'
"To space": shove out an airlock, often used as an empty threat or a joke.
Spacejob: something sexual done on EVA (mostly a myth).
Spark Out (v.): Die, go dark, break down. “Fuckin’ engine sparked out on me.”
Stars (expletive): Damn, fuck, general swear. “Stars, I swear she gets prettier every time I see her.”
Strudel: Someone who engages in sexual relations with a robot/android/AI (aka Pop-Tart).
Surge-monkey: light-hearted slang for anyone who tends to work with electricity (engineers, IT techies, etc)
Stim: stimulant drugs.
Tab-hang: To eavesdrop, in person or digitally.
Teek: telekinetic - someone from Goibniu.
Tin Cup (n.): a useful asteroid with minerals worth a decent amount. “It’ll take years to drain that tin cup of all it’s ore, great find!”
Toaster: android/robot.
VCR: Insult, something old or non-technologic. Not many people know what a VCR is or what it stands for as the term has been so far removed from the original. “The city is VCR, they don’t even have a dock port.”
Verbal: out loud.
Votre d'acuiel bairre: "Let your money flow flawless"; A popular drinking toast among the highest classes.
Waffy: A feeling of emotional unwellness, that cannot be categorized as anger, sadness, loneliness, and the like. Also an exclamation of frustration: Waff!
Zapper: An unimpressive gun.
Zoot: a seemingly innocent person who lures others into trouble.
