What is the age range for this camp?
Bouncin' Round the Bay is for students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
What time does camp start and end?
Most days will last from 9-3:00pm.
If the time will go longer, campers and their families will be notified well in advance.
Please see the session schedules in the “Dates and Rates” section.
Your weekly prices went up. Why is that?
We are a three week camp. However, we know that some families cannot commit to the full three weeks, but want to join for a part of it. Scheduling the groups for single week campers is time consuming. The one week option increased due to the extra work.
There is a registration fee on the Hillsborough Recreation Website. Does this money go to your camp?
No, the registration fee goes to the company that helps run the Hillsborough Recreation website. That money does not go to our camp. For more information about the fee, you can contact the Hillsborough Recreation Department directly.
Can my child come late/be picked up early?
Since every day is a field trip, it is very important that campers arrive to camp (Crocker Middle School) on time at 9am. We will be departing shortly after 9am each day, so there is a risk of running late. Please pick up your child promptly at the correct end time each day.
Where is the daily drop-off and pick-up?
The days we take the chartered bus, drop- off and pick- up will be at Crocker Middle School.
Days where we take public transportation, the drop- off and pick- up will be at the Burlingame Caltrain station.
Where do you meet on the public transportation days?
On the days where we take public transportation, drop- off and pick- up will be at the Burlingame Caltrain Station. (Drop- off will be at 9:00am and pick- up will be at 3:00pm). The Burlingame Caltrain Station is located at 290 California Drive, Burlingame 94010
What happens if I have to cancel my spot in the camp?
The last day to drop the class for a full refund in the early spring of 2024. Specific date is coming soon.
I'm on the waitlist. Is there a chance I'm going to get into camp?
Yes, there is a chance. We will follow the order on the waitlist as best as possible, but we are looking for the best fit for the cohorts. For example, if there is an opening for week 3 only in an all 8th grade group, we would not offer it to someone who is an incoming 6th grader, even though that potential camper is higher on the waitlist for the same week. We would try to find an incoming 8th grader who is on the waitlist to take the opening. We would not want to have just one incoming 6th grader to be in a group of all rising 8th graders.
How active is this camp?
In short, very active! This camp is for kids who like to get out an explore. This WILL be a very active experience for the kids. We will do a lot of walking as we “bounce around the bay.”
How many kids will there be in each session?
There will be about 16 campers in the group. Some groups might have fewer campers based on demand.
What should my child wear/bring to camp each day?
Each day, campers should bring a snack, a lunch, a drink and/or a water bottle. A hat, sunscreen and a sweatshirt are also recommended. Kids should wear comfortable walking shoes, as we will be doing a lot of walking each day. On days when we go to the beach, campers can bring or wear a bathing suit. Campers can also bring some spending money for a small souvenir or to purchase a snack for some field trips.
Do the kids need to pack a lunch every day?
Yes, kids should bring a packed lunch each day to camp. They should also bring a drink and/or a water bottle
Can the kids buy a lunch on the field trips?
No, the camp is predicated on getting around and seeing the sites. There will not be time to wait in lines to order lunch. Kids, however, can bring some pocket money to buy a snack or a drink if the time permits.
Do the kids need to bring money to pay for activities?
No, all activities are prepaid through the camp tuition. Kids can bring extra money on some field trips if they would like to buy a souvenir or a small snack.
Can my child bring his or her cell phone?
Yes, but we will ask that the kids keep that cell phone tucked away with the ringer off. It is our belief that cell phones may only be used to communicate with parents before and after camp.
How can parents reach the camp leader throughout the day?
Prior to each session, the camp leader will provide the parents of the campers with our direct cell phone numbers. If needed, parents will be able to call and or text us directly throughout the day.
What transportation company will you be using and does your bus driver have the proper license to drive children?
Our private bus will be provided by Professional Chartered Services. This company provides bus drivers that are fully SPAB certified to handle youth camps such as ours. SPAB certification means that the drivers have passed a background check, medical exam, have been fingerprinted, and the bus has passed inspections.
How will you supervise my child on public transportation?
Child safety is our highest priority. We will have each child assigned to a group led by an HCSD teacher. Each group will board any train together as a group. That same group will disembark any train as a group. Prior to exiting any type of transportation, there will be a head count to ensure that all members of the group are together.
How will you supervise my child on your field trips?
We will supervise the kids on our trips just like we will when we use public transportation. Kids will never be on their own. If they ever need to use the restroom in public, each child will go with a partner. Kids are expected to remain with the group at all times. These expectations will be repeated daily.
Can I show up late each day?
Since every day is a field trip, it is very important that campers arrive to camp (Crocker Middle School) on time at 9am. We will be departing shortly after 9am each day, so there is a risk of running late. Please pick up your child promptly at the correct pick-up time of 3:00pm. At this time, we are not planning to have the ability to drop off before 9am and pick up after 3:00pm.
