HOW TO GET INVOLVED

There are several different ways to get involved in Boston DSA's ongoing work to build a mass socialist movement.

1. Come to a social event!

Boston DSA regularly hosts informal “Coffee with Comrades” events, Boston DSA Run Club, Neighborhood Meetups, and other events specifically so you can get to know your comrades.

2. Come to a New member orientation.

If you haven't already, a great first step getting involved as a new Boston DSA member is to attend a New Member Orientation. These are held monthly, and dates of upcoming orientations can be found on the chapter Events Calendar.

3. Come to an action.

Boston DSA engages in protests, direct actions, and union solidarity across the Boston area. We both plan our own campaigns and act in concert with other community and political organizations.

4. Canvass for an electoral or issue campaign.

Boston DSA endorses candidates sharing our values in local races, mobilizing our membership to tilt those races and raise our voice to our elected representatives. The Electoral Working Group runs our electoral Canvassing events. Other Working Groups canvass for other issues (like Fight For Fifteen).

5. Come to a working group meeting.

Do you have a project you want to initiate and need collaborators? Looking to find out about existing projects to which you can contribute? This is where you do it. Most working groups meet on a monthly basis. Each has a mailing list for communication and each has a contact email address, listed in this handbook below.

6. Come to a general membership meeting.

At the General Meetings, members raise concerns for consideration with the entire membership, debate and vote on resolutions, and hear reportbacks from the working groups. General Meetings also frequently feature trainings, political education, and organizing activities.
