Nevus

An eye freckle occurring in about 7% of adults

This needs to be checked to be sure it is not a melanoma (cancer)

Has a slight potential to change into a melanoma (1 in 500 over 10 years)

Melanomas tend to grow rapidly, but freckles grow slowly over several years

In younger patients, slow growth is more common and tends to stabilize with age

They need to be continually monitored for any signs of change

Retinal photos are a good way to monitor
