This is a genetic condition where thinning of the cornea disrupts the smooth surface of the eye, and may cause the vision to get worse
In advanced cases, scarring can develop also causing the vision to get worse
Some patients can see well enough with glasses, others will need hard contact lenses to see clearly
Treatments include corneal cross linking (CXL) which lock the cornea into position, and prevent eyeglass prescription changes
Intacs are C shaped implants set into the cornea to flatten out the cone and correct some of the prescription
In severe cases, a corneal transplant may be necessary to see clearly
