Mountain bikers and most other bush users are generally appreciative of the environment and look after the bush land that we visit. When we run an event like GBomb we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible, however this year we have decided to step it up another level. Below are the initiatives we have taken, and hope you can support them as well.
- This is AWESOME! Instead of water bottles being provided in your race pack this year, we have arranged for custom Bom Bom Racing KeepCups!! These things are the real deal, Aussie made out of recycled BPA-free plastic with the awesome Bom Bom Racing Logo on it. Every adult entrant will receive one of these as part of their entry. And we will also have them on sale for $15 each on the day.
- There will be NO disposable cups provided at our venue!!! Please either BYO cup or we will have some for sale on the weekend.
- The food available for purchase will be sold with no plastic plates, bowls or cutlery. Good old napkins and cardboard trays and bamboo forks will be used instead. We encourage you to BYO plate, bowls, cutlery.
- Our BBQ team will be the local Scouts and they will be selling cans and bottled drinks. They would love it if you place all your empties in the bins they provide (uncrushed cans) so they can use them as valuable fundraising.
- To reduce the waste even further we’d really appreciate everyone brings their own plate and cutlery if staying for the gourmet $10 dinner that Clarence Catering are cooking for us Saturday night. Most of you will probably have your camping kit with you anyway 😊
- Finally as with all races, make sure you keep your gel and bar wrappers with you and dispose of them back at the Event HQ.
