Under 15 Girls and Boys Soccer

On Thursday 3rd May our Girls and Boys Under 15 Soccer Teams took part in the Bill Turner Cup/Trophy Gala Day at South Nowra. The Gala Day involved teams from a number of schools including Kiama HS, Nowra HS, Shoalhaven HS, Vincentia HS, Ulladulla HS and Bomaderry HS. Photos of our teams show our students at the beginning of the gala looking terrific in their Bomaderry HS representative colours.

The Girls Team took on Nowra HS in the first round with our girls giving an enormous effort with only 10 players and no subs in quite hot conditions. Nowra HS came through winners in this round however our girls held their heads high after an amazing effort across the field. The girls continued to show outstanding determination in the second game against Shoalhaven HS. Still with low numbers, the great work of the whole team ensured the girls held SHS to 1-0 at half time. Unfortunately, our dedicated and very tired girls could not continue to hold in the second half and SHS came away winners. The combination of experienced and new soccer players combined as representatives of Bomaderry HS to make our school extremely proud.

Our boys team took on Ulladulla HS in the first round and scored a terrific goal to open the scoring. Ulladulla hit back and ended up coming through winners in this closely contested game. During the game our boys played well across the whole team and represented Bomaderry HS with great pride. In the boys second game our team played Shoalhaven HS and came away convincing winners with a 7-1 win. The boys combined extremely well during this game with the result being a terrific game to watch and a number of outstanding team and individual goals. This game really showed the great potential for the boys in this team to go on representing the school strongly in the future.

Three of our senior students Brendan L, Luke C and Selina H generously gave their time for the day to officiate games as referees and lines people. These students were outstanding role models for all students at the competition and their time and expertise ensured the day was a great success. Bomaderry High School’s own Mrs Rawlinson was the convenor and organiser of this Gala Day for the Zone and we would like to thank her very much for all of her hard work in providing this great opportunity for our students and the students from all of the high schools across the Zone.

Open Girls Soccer

At the end of Term 1 our Open Girls Soccer Team played their first round CHS Knockout game against Warilla High School at Shoalhaven Heads. This game had to be rescheduled due to rain on the first organised date. Once on the field our girls displayed outstanding skill, courage and determination as they took on a polished Warilla team which included quite a few representative players. Although at the end of the game our girls were beaten on the scoreboard their outstanding effort and tireless tenacity made all that were spectating and at the ground extremely proud.

Two of our Year 11 girls who were fantastic participants in the training and lead up to the game were ruled out with injury however their effort should be recognised – thanks to Jade M and Jessie B. Finally, a huge congratulations to the following girls for their outstanding representation of our school on the day of the game: Selina H, Sari B, Bridee L, Tara R, Jamie G, Natalie S, Zara P, Annika H, Emma A, Amy F, Sophie M, Holli L, Kyla D, Victoria B, Bella C and Sarah G. A number of these girls are in Year 12 and this game will be their last representative Soccer game for Bomaderry High School. Congratulations girls on your representation of the school.
