At Bolton Nursery we view snack and meal times as community time during which children are encouraged to come together, talk about the day’s events and practice their table manners.
Refreshments are provided during the morning and afternoon which consist of fruit and other light snacks, we do this as a rolling snack to disturb important play and learning as little as possible. A choice of milk or water is always offered during snack and meal times. When celebrating the various ethnic / religious festivals appropriate snacks are provided, thereby affording the children the opportunity to learn about different cultures and taste new foods.
Jugs of fresh cool water are always available for the children to use in the main room and after-school room.
Parents / Carers are required to provide a healthy packed lunch for their child should they be staying at the Nursery during the lunch period (12:00 pm – 1:00 pm). Likewise, if your child is staying at the Nursery till 6 pm, you may wish to send an evening meal along. We can reheat suitably prepared meals. The Nursery can provide, at a cost to the parent, school lunches which are made and brought in from Temple Sowerby on a daily (term time) basis. Individual dietary needs can be catered for and you should ensure that staff are aware of any special dietary requirements or food allergies your child may have.
