This week can be difficult for some people. You will have three hours to find 3 out of 5 points on a large course during the day. You may walk 12-16 miles per day in your boots. It may also rain while you are in the field.
Stay hydrated. Drink as much water as you can. The February class will be cool, with possible rain but no mosquitoes or ticks. The April class will be warmer and have more bugs. The June or August class will be hot and humid, with many bugs. Consider buying individual packets of electrolyte powder for any time of the year. Take care of your feet. Running around in boots all day is not the same as going on a scenic hike. Your feet are going to be in pain. The cadre will have moleskin and other first aid supplies, but consider bringing your own.
Stay healthy. Push yourself hard, but don't be a hero this week. When out on the course, be cognizant of holes and other features that can cause serious injuries.
You will be eating MREs breakfast and lunch and a hot meal for dinner.
