The Italian visa process is currently undergoing changes- we will be posting updates soon.
Fall 2025 students: You will receive an email from an LAS advisor who will be your contact and provide guidance for the Italian visa process.
A student visa is required for all students who do not have citizenship in member countries of the European Union. You can apply for the visa entirely on your own. You must make an appointment to submit your materials to the Italian Consulate in Chicago to personally drop off the application for Schengen visa, the supporting materials, and your original passport. We encourage you to make an appointment as soon as possible. Visa appointments will fill up quickly and if you wait for too long, you may not get in. You will need your letter of acceptance from Bocconi before your visa appointment, but do not need the letter to schedule the appointment. Acceptance letters will be available electronically within 24-48 hours after submitting your application to Bocconi. Instructions to retrieve your acceptance letter will be included in an email from Bocconi.
You will find the visa application and list of supporting documents needed here.
In addition to your visa, students will need to obtain a permit of stay. You will do this upon your arrival in Italy. Bocconi will assist students with this process during the orientation sessions. More information regarding the permit of stay can be found here.
