Join a TEAM to SOLVE Practical Solutions and innovate using Computing to solve Global Problems:

6. GOOD HEALTH AND WELL BEING

Why it matters : To learn more click here

GRADING CRITERIA:

  • Completeness and transferability
How fully is the idea implemented? Can it achieve an impact in the field? Can it be transferred elsewhere? The judges are looking for an application that could make a difference in dangerous situations and can be used multiple times.

  • Effectiveness and efficiency
Does the solution address a high priority area? Does it achieve its goal effectively and efficiently? Can it scale? This should address a problem that has been quantified and then have an impact.

  • Design and usability
How good is the design, user experience, and ease of use of the solution? How quickly can it be utilized in a community or society? Students need to think about the end user and their situation – consider the individual’s stress, access to network connectivity, their device’s battery life, etc.

  • Creativity and innovation
How unique is the approach to solving a long-standing or previously intractable problem? This doesn’t need to be completely original. Think about how students can add insight to an existing solution or take a totally different perspective/view on the problem and create a solution around it.

How much working code do I need to submit?

The more complete your application is, the better you’ll score on the “completeness and transferability” criterion. That’s also why the solution roadmap you provide along with your solution is helpful. It indicates how mature the project is and where you plan to go next in its development. While we don’t expect each solution to be production-ready upon submission, we are looking for concrete solutions that can be nurtured, improved, and eventually deployed.
