School Profile
In January 1963, Republic Act No. 3705 converted the Ilocos Norte Normal school into the Northem Luzon Teachers College (NLTC). In 1977, it offered a four year education course. By the year 1974-1975, there was a need to provide a laboratory high school for the student teachers, hence the Bureau of Public schools approved the creation of the NLTC Laboratory High School. In 1976, NLTC was named Northern Luzon State University (NLSU), hence the high school was also name NLSC Laboratory School. When the college eventually became the College of Education of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) under P.D. 1279 in 1978, the high school was named University High School Laoag.
The Laboratory High School at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) was established in 1978 as part of the educational development in Ilocos Norte. The school serves as an educational laboratory for prospective teachers studying in the College of Teacher Education. Measurement and Evaluation System
The measurement and evaluation system at the Laboratory High School (LHS) at Mariano Marcos State University follows the K-12 curriculum. In the Philippines, there are two types of exams for measurement and evaluation: midterm and end-of-semester exams. In addition, teachers can also give weekly assignments, quizzes or tests to assess and evaluate students' knowledge. The system is designed to assist teachers in understanding students' understanding of the material taught and to identify areas for improvement in the learning process.
Curriculum
The K to 12 curriculum in the Philippines includes Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education, aiming to ensure mastery of concepts, skills, and prepare students for further education, employment, or entrepreneurship. For grades 1-10, the Matatag curriculum is now implemented.
