STEM Integration
STEM Integration
STEM has been an educational buzzword for years. Many teachers and principals would probably state they teach STEM well, or even that they already integrate STEM across the curriculum. STEM is so much more than the siloed subjects of science, technology, engineering, and math. Skills needed in all content areas can often be traced back to research-based best practices in teaching and learning STEM. The Indiana Department of Education* classifies STEM skills into five domains:
Communication and Collaboration
Data Analysis and Measurement
Inquiry-Based Approaches and Problem Solving
Applications and Modeling
Information and Digital Literacy
Contact Blaske Consulting to assist analyzing your current curriculum and instructional strategies to connect these integrated STEM skills across curriculum, both within and across grades. This is not a new fad, or more to add to your teachers' plates; this is a long-term, sustainable way to engage students in critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving throughout their entire school career.
