Building a STEM Culture
Building a STEM Culture
As you are beginning this process, use this free STEM Planning Checklist to guide your strategic planning process.
Many schools have "that STEM teacher" who sponsors the coding club or organizes Community STEM Night every year. Maybe your school even has several of these "STEM teachers" doing amazing things in their classrooms. But with a vision to build and sustain a STEM culture across the entire building, so much more can be accomplished.
Research* has found that the impetus for this climate shift must come from school and corporation leaders. Without a school leader prioritizing planning time, funding, data analysis, and bringing in knowledgeable guidance, and providing for the sustainability of this work, teachers cannot maximize their effectiveness--no matter what curriculum or assessment strategy is in place.
