People do not have to work that hard any more
Lacie can do her own things while she is working, Lacie spends lots of time on social media instead of doing work
Lacie's colleagues pay more attention on other people's life instead of their jobs
People work for the points not for the money
Lacie gets the coffee by rating the server
Lacie needs a higher point to live into a better apartment
Chester gets kicked out the company because of a low point
Higher point = More privileged
It seems as if peoples score corelate to wealth, Naomi lived in a mansion, Susan lived as a truck driver, and Lacie is a middle classed women; their points were higher 4's, mid 1's, and low 4's respectively.
In that high-tech society, more and more people are depending on automation. For example, Lacie is angry that her rented car's auto-driving function is broken. However, it totally depends on people's choice. For example, taxies are still running by humans instead of robots. This is not significant to the main intent of the movie.
People are distanced because of the Internet
In the elevator, Lacie gets to know the lady by her social media instead of chatting. They do not even look at each other.
Lacie and her brother's relationship gets bad because of an argument over points.
Lacie lies to herself about the relationship between her and Naomi. They do not know each other any more.
The rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer. Same idea applies to this movie. People who have high points are getting higher, but people have low points are getting lower. People are blinded by the point system.
Lacie walks on the highway and gets points deduction for nothing.
Lacie and Chester experience a nosedive because lower point people are less respected, so they will experience a point reduction for no reason.
The friend of Naomi's husband earns lots of 5 stars for one speech on Naomi's wedding, but Lacie only gets a 3 star by trying so hard to play up to the lady in the elevator.
Naomi is getting more and more point rich for doing nothing, she is an overall unkind person
