The Science Challenge will be on April 4, 2026 from 1-4 pm!
Who: All Madison City Schools students in grades 3-5
What: A science competition to test students' knowledge of biology, physics, and chemistry with fun labs and contests, led by enthusiastic high school students from Bob Jones and James Clemens. It's free to participate!
When: April 5 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Registration will open on March 1 and close on March 29.

1:00 - opening ceremonies begin, bingo ends
1:15 - opening ceremonies end, students are walked to testing rooms
1:30 - testing begins
2:10 - testing ends, snacks provided for students
2:30 - labs begin
3:30 - labs end
3:40 - closing ceremonies begin
4:30 - dismissal
The classic cake walk takes a chemistry theme at Science Challenge! Walk around the elements of the Periodic Table and earn prizes like cupcakes!
Rotational Motion is our fun physics contest! Students create devices to roll down a ramp at home and bring them to compete at the challenge. The contest rules are online.
Our poster contest gives students the opportunity to express their creativity! Students make a poster at home that spells out "Science Challenge" with science-themed letters and bring it to the event. The best poster wins a prize!
Labs will be divided into four rooms. All labs are subject to change based on the availability of supplies.

Each Science Challenge begins with a short test to measure student accomplishments in science. The top scorers in each grade level will go home with prizes!

Students are provided with the test and answer document
Students should bring pencil/eraser with them
30 multiple choice questions
3-4 written tie-breakers
