Third Week

Ideation

Tell us about your assignment's idea for this week. Why do you care about this idea? What were you inspired by?

My assignment idea for this week is to make a pincel holder from a bended shape have pattern act as the holes of the pencils and to decrease the amount of the plastic and time needed to be printed

Tool Chain

Which software/machines/materials did you use this week? Why?

we used in this week

1- fusion for the modeling of the pencil holder by lofting between two curve then opening the holes of the pens by extrude and change it to cut

2-prusa slicer for convering the 3d model into G-code and we check if we had any blue area as indecation of the overhanged spaces

3- laser cutter in the lab to cut the mobile holder we made it the last week

with wood

Design Process

Explain the design process of your assignment. How did you use the tool/software to design and/or simulate your assignment?

steps of design

sketching

1

loft

extrude -cut

sweep

sweep 2

sweep 3

sweep 4

  1. first i take dimensions of pencil to make it as a refrance will design the pencil holder (10mm thickness - 160mm hight ) soooo the holes must be equal or bigger than 10mm

  2. i use fusion for making 3d model of the pencil holder by lofting between two curves with thickness of 1.5mm

  3. then making void by extrude then change in to cut and the curved place i used pattern in make void on it

  4. then i make curves by sketch and cross section of triangles and sweep between them

  5. make pattern with angle equal 30 degree so it doesnot need any support in 3d printer

  6. using prusa slicer by importing the 3d model and getthe g-code used by the 3d printer and checking if it need any support- if there is any blue line

  7. adding brim to increase the area attached to the bed

Fabrication/Implementation Process

Explain the fabrication/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

  1. after finishing the model of the pen holder and check the amount of plastic gram and time i export it as G.code

  2. i copy it in the memory that come with the 3d printer

  3. i wanted to change the filment so preheat the machine and then click inreload filement then remove the filement then click in loadfilement after putting the filement in the nozzle .

  4. after changing the filement and checking the temp of the nozzle and the bed with the using filement we choose the g.code file to print it

+.And if it was stick in the bed we can remove the bed and bend it to remove the model easly

Community of Learning

Did you ask for feedback? What are the ideas that others have contributed or suggested? What was someone else’s idea that you built upon? How did you help your peers? How did your peers help you?

  1. my partnar was try to decrease the time needed to finish the model and i advice her to make holo shape with pattern with small angle maximum 30 degree to avoide using support

  2. adding brim to the model for increase the area attached to the bed after the first one was not attached to the bed

Overcoming Challenges

When you got stuck, what/who did you turn to? At what point did you have to pause to research or learn more before moving on? What are some mistakes, pitfalls, or challenges that others can avoid if they were doing this project?

i was having trouble in making body can be printed in 90min so i began to make some void in the shape to reach my 90 min but i can't because it always need support and blue line as indecatioin of overhanging appear but i search and find that maximum angle in 3dprinter with out overhanging part is 30-45 degree from the verticality

Final Project

How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?

skills to istimate the amount of time need to print the model

addding support and know the overhanged places

modeling in 3-dimensions

we will use this skills in the construction part of the final

WOW!

What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week? What is something that you will never forget from this week?

the icon named create form make cool stuff oraganic shapes - deconstruct shapes very helpfull ..... but everything done inside it act as one step

making the fidget and descovering new type of connection

Weekly Digest [OPTIONAL]

Tell us about any other cool things that you've made this week: Pre-activity, examples, exercises, or any mini-projects.

making curcit

1-connecting of the motor with the electricty only

2- connecting of the lamp only

the motor with the switch to the electricity

making the fidget and know the other kind of conenction
