Pre-Screening and Attendance Information
TEA guidance is as follows for students: "Parents must ensure they do not send a child to school on campus if the child has COVID-19 symptoms or is lab confirmed with COVID-19, and instead should opt to receive remote instruction until the below conditions for re-entry are met. Parents may also opt to have their students receive remote instruction if their child has has close contact with an individual who is lab confirmed with COVID-19 until the 14 day incubation period has passed."
Bus Transportation Protocols
We highly encourage parents to bring and pick up their child from school if possible. BISD will continue to provide bus transportation services for students that need transportation services.
Bus drivers and monitors will be trained in health and safety protocols
Bus drivers and bus riders will be required to wear masks due to the close proximity on the bus regardless of age
Hand sanitizers will be installed and used by students when entering and exiting the bus
Seats, handles and high touch areas will be disinfected after each bus route
When feasible, bus windows will be opened to allow outside air to circulate in the bus
Buses will be sanitized twice a day
Cafeteria Protocols
BISD staff will be trained in health and safety protocols
Breakfast and lunch will be delivered in a "grab and go" format
Cafeteria staff members will be required to wear masks when serving meals to students
High traffic areas such as seats, tables, and door handles will be cleaned and sanitized between use
Students have access to hand sanitizer to use upon entering and exiting the cafeteria
Playgrounds and Recess Information
Playground equipment will be sanitized during the day
We will be working on schedules and routines that teach children to maintain safe distances from each other
Children will sanitize their hands at the beginning and the end of recess
Extracurricular Information
All extracurricular and athletic events will follow participation guidelines set by the UIL (University Interscholastic League).
Athletic practices and contests will be conducted following safety protocol provided by guidance from Brownsboro ISD, UIL, and TEA. This will include COVID screening, group sizes, wearing masks, sharing and sanitizing of equipment, locker room usage, etc.
Hand sanitizing stations will be in gym facilities and equipment will be sanitized on a regular basis.
Locker room use will be determined by TEA/UIL. If locker rooms can be accessed, all locker room space will be utilized to follow social distancing guidelines.
Bus travel will follow the transportation guidelines provided by BISD and TEA.
Spectator attendance at games and contests may be limited based on TEA and UIL guidelines. Ticketing for events may be utilized to control the capacity of facilities.
Postgame sign out procedures for athletes will be communicated to parents prior to the beginning of each season.
Event procedures will be in place to minimize face-to-face interactions.
Separate entrances and exits may be utilized and event doors may be propped open to minimize physical contact with handles.
Spectator seats may be marked and/or configured in a way to enforce social distancing.
Concessions and/or concession sales may be limited to encourage social distancing and to follow health and safety guidelines.
Additional Information
In the event that a temporary face to face school closure is needed, all students in the district will attend remote learning until it is safe to return to the school building.
Parents selecting the face to face instructional model, will have the option to move their child to the virtual model at any point during the nine week grading period but must remain in the virtual model until the end of the nine weeks grading period. At the end of the 1st nine weeks grading period, parents will be able to select either face to face learning or virtual learning for their child for the 2nd nine weeks grading period.
