I am currently an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Education at IIT Kharagpur, where I joined in 2024. By education, I am a chemist, and by training, a spectroscopist, with a keen interest in applying spectroscopic techniques to explore and understand complex biological systems.

I received my B.Sc. in Chemistry from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur (Kolkata), followed by an M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata. During my doctoral research under Prof. Somdatta Ghosh Dey, I investigated the active-site structure and reactivity of heme- and copper-bound amyloid peptides associated with Alzheimer’s disease and type-2 diabetes. My postdoctoral research included enriching experiences with Prof. Daniella Goldfarb at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, where I studied the structure and dynamics of proteins in solution and within cells using advanced high-field electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. I also worked with Prof. George Cutsail at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, Mülheim, Germany on copper proteins and complexes using advanced EPR spectroscopy.

Alongside research, I am deeply passionate about teaching chemistry. I follow a curiosity-driven approach to learning, integrating demonstrations and historical perspectives to inspire students to think beyond conventional boundaries.
