Our group focuses on two main areas of drug delivery. The first goal is to develop various functional organic materials using electrospinning techniques to obtain polymeric surfaces with bioactives for tissue regeneration and antiseptic activity.
The second objective is to produce various lipid nanocarriers such as liposomes, bicelles, bicosomes and dendrimers. Most of these carriers are of natural origin (natural lipids), which improves biocompatibility between the different natural bioactives (biocomponents with antioxidant and antimicrobial effects) and reduces harmfulness to the organism.
José Villagra's project proposes the incorporation of essential oil and hydroalcoholic extracts of D. winteri in liposomal systems, encapsulating active substances that allow this plant to be used as a possible pharmaceutical or cosmetic agent.
