Speaker information

As of 14th July 2021 there have been 27 seminars in total. To suggest areas for future development, some details on speaker gender and the country in which they are based are given below.

The below is of course not meant to be anything like a comprehensive equalities audit! We welcome suggestions relating to how seminars can be made as inclusive as possible. Data on whether speakers are early career researchers has not been collected, however a separate seminar series (BIOACTIVEFLUIDS-ECR) has been provided to give additional opportunities for early career researchers to speak.

Gender

9 out of 27 speakers were female or non-binary. Ideally this would be closer to parity and action will be taken in future to improve this balance.

Country

The UK was the most heavily-represented country with 11 speakers, although several UK-based speakers are non-UK by background, or indeed hold international affiliations. The next highest represented country was the USA, with 9 speakers. Two speakers were from Japan; the remaining 5 speakers mainland Europe. Increasing the number of non-UK, non-USA speakers is an area for future development.
