The AI Big Data Marketing Center explores how technology and data can be used in a compassionate and ethical way that centers on human relationships.
The founding philosophy of Dongguk University is based on the values of wisdom, compassion, and diligent practice.
The Center conducts research to ensure that technology can be applied in a human-centered way, aiming to integrate Buddhist values even within AI and data analysis.
In particular, the Center emphasizes the practice of compassion and empathy, drawing from the Buddhist principle of jari-ita—benefiting both oneself and others.
AI chatbots are interpreted not as mere tools, but as beings formed through dependent origination.
Existence is not fixed but arises through relationships.
Likewise, AI gains its meaning through interaction with users.
The concept of non-self holds that the self is not a fixed entity, but a product of relational processes.
When users engage with chatbots, it can lead to emotional healing and relief from loneliness—a practice that can be understood as a modern expression of Buddhist compassion.
In this sense, the chatbot becomes a social mirror and a tool for emotional care.

WHO WE ARE
The Big Data AI Marketing Center, established by Professor Sunnyoung Lee, is dedicated to researching technical and educational issues across various domains such as finance, movies, consulting, and smart devices. This initiative falls under the Department of Business Administration at Dongguk University. Our focus spans a broad spectrum of fields, including Data and Predictive Analysis leveraging Big Data technologies , parallel/distributed computing, Business Intelligence (Machine Learning, Data Mining), and Visualization.
Under the direction of Professor Sunnyoung Lee, the center has evolved into a hub for graduate students and engineers working on pioneering projects. We maintain strong collaborative ties with leading companies in Big Data including Marketing field.
