Central locking can be installed into almost any vehicle. If your car doesn't have central locking, treat yourself and get it installed. You wish you had done it sooner. There will be no need to remember if all the doors are locked. Once the drivers door is locked, all the doors will follow. Central locking can be simply used by the car key in the drivers door, or a remote from an existing immobiliser / car alarm.
Aftermarket Central Locking Actuator Installation
If you have a vehicle already fitted with central locking, whether factory fitted or after market, you will know how frustrating it really is when it fails to work. Some cars it is obvious when a failure occurs, like a really bad grinding noise. Some vehicles you would never know that a failure exists. It doesn't hurt every now and then to physically check that all the doors are actually locked once the vehicle is locked, and visa versa.
We are happy to offer advice or do the repairs for you. There a lot of things that can go wrong, but mostly the tiny electric motors get 'tired', the internal gears can break or the wiring breaks in the door jam. Some vehicles' actuators may have sensors and can also be linked into the factory car alarm. If one of these sensors goes bad, this is often a reason for false alarms in the middle of the nights.
For Factory fitted central locking systems, parts are often vehicle specific and integrated directly into the door lock assembly. Genuine parts can cost lots of money. Nowadays, often aftermarket Chinese replicas are available as replacements as a cheaper alternative. These door locks can also tell the interior light to activate. If this 'internal door switch' fails, it will be the reason why car interior light wont turn on and also your car radio will most likely not turn off.
