Sonja Marquis, Director

Sonja is a professional actor, director, sound designer, and member of Actors' Equity Association. She has worked with numerous theaters throughout southeastern Michigan, including Tipping Point Theatre, Purple Rose Theatre Company, The Dio, Williamston Theatre, Flint Repertory Theatre, Detroit Public Theatre, The JET, Wild Swan, Encore Musical Theatre Company, and Detroit’s Music Hall. Her most recent project was at the Geva Theatre in Rochester, New York, where she spent the summer reprising the role of Louise in Always...Patsy Cline. Sonja is honored to have received several awards and nominations for her work, including Wilde Award wins for her portrayals Florence Foster Jennings (Souvenir), Rosie (Mamma Mia), Louise (Always...Patsy Cline), and Betty (The Great American Trailer Park Musical), and for best sound design (Driving Miss Daisy). She is currently a lecturer for Oakland University's Department of Theatre and has an extensive history of working with young artists of all ages. Creating with the BHS Dramatic Arts and Brighton Musical students has been a blessing, and she hopes that the students' experiences working on plays and musicals will inspire them to continue to create, explore, and support the arts throughout their lives.

Kristine Stuenkel, Producer & Costume Designer

Kristine has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Western Michigan University. She has been working backstage and in costumes for the past 15+ years. She has designed costumes for Brighton High School for the past 12+ years, including Wizard of Oz, Cinderella, Newsies, Pippin, Robin Hood, Honeymoon in Vegas, White Christmas, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Grease, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, Mutually Assured Destruction, Peter and the Starcatcher, Radium Girls, and Anastasia. Kristine has also been producing Brighton Musical and BHS Dramatic Arts for several years and is excited about the new opportunities BHS Dramatic Arts is bringing to the students. Aside from working in the theater, Kristine loves attending theater, concerts, traveling, and the beach.
