Helena is an Associate Specialist at UC Berkeley where she works as a data scientist. Her work currently focuses on developing and managing a database for a California wide prescribed fire monitoring program. While she has worked in a diversity of ecosystems (tidal wetlands, boreal forests, Sierra mixed conifer forests) her work is unified by themes of understanding ecological disturbance and ecosystem resilience, especially through the lens of climate change. She is passionate about expanding the scope of reproducible and interoperable scientific research as she works to better understand how prescribed fire can create more resilient forests in California.
