Education:

B.S. in Society & Environment (Environmental Policy & Resource Management) from UC Berkeley, 2023

M.F. from UC Berkeley, 2024

Ashlyn is interested in the intersection of forest ecology, fire ecology, and spatial data, with a particular emphasis on the use of geospatial methods to advance forest management. She is currently researching and developing forest mensuration strategies using mobile light detection and ranging (LiDAR), including methods to derive burn pile emissions from point cloud data. Prior to her role as a researcher in the lab, she was an M.F. student in the Battles and York labs, where she developed a method for analyzing giant sequoia burn scars using mobile LiDAR. She contributes to a range of spatial projects in the lab, including work supporting the California Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force.
