Sony's PlayStation 5 (PS5) quickly became the famous and user's first choice in terms of gaming consoles, beating its closest competitor from Microsoft, the Xbox Series X and S, two years after its initial release.

According to IGN, Sony Corporation has managed to sell an estimated 6,770,000 units of their next-generation console since its initial release up until 2022, while the Xbox is just shy of half a million compared to the number of PS5 sold in the United States of America (USA).

The numbers of PS5 units sold are clearly superior and ahead of its competitor, many factors contribute to the fact that the PS5 is more likely to be chosen by people, such as a much better and more powerful console with bigger storage and a new user interface.

Sony PlayStation 5 was first released on the 12th of November 2020 and it comes with two versions, digital edition and disc edition, both with the same performance.

As an enthusiast of the PS5 who has been experiencing it for almost a year, Zikri Zaid, 23, had his own say regarding the pros and cons of using the next-gen console.

"I have been using the PS5 for about a year and overall I can say that I am satisfied with what Sony had to offer.

“Although it has some weaknesses, the pros outshine the cons and I am very happy with the performance of the next-gen console," said Zikri in an interview session with Berita DIMENSi via WhatsApp.

He said that the cons of the PS5 are the shortage of the next-gen console because he had to wait for several months until he got his hands on it and the lack of games to be played.

Zikri also believes that it will improve in the future because it is still relatively early since the PS5 was released.

As per the technology used by Sony to produce the PS5, it clearly outperforms the previous console models.

According to TechRadar, the PS5 comes with a brand new DualSense controller, a better processor that produces 4K resolution, and a quicker Solid-state drive (SSD), which will significantly improve loading times.

Adam Hamid, 24, a tech geek who worked as an Information Technology (IT) technician, had argued about the storage of the PS5 because it is significantly lower for a next-gen console.

“Although the PS5 storage is higher than the PS4, it is not enough for users to enjoy and experience the PS5 because one game will surely fill up the space, especially on a next-gen console,” said Adam during an interview session with Berita DIMENSi.

He also added that if a game requires 50 gigabytes or more in order to play, then the storage will fill up much quicker than expected, and that is what Sony should improve in the future in order to attract more users.

It is normal for everything to have its own pros and cons, as PS5 is still in its early stages and will surely improve with age, so people will be able to experience and enjoy it in much better ways.
