Apple announced the iOS 15.4 software update on March 14, 2022.

Apple has released iOS 15.4, one of the major updates, which is compatible with the iPhone SE first generation all the way up to the iPhone 13 series.

This update then caught the attention of Apple users as it was a major software update as compared to iOS 15.3.

Farah Nabila Mohd Yusree, 22 a Retail Sales Advisor at an Apple reseller store called Machines said, the major update for this software is users can now use Face ID while wearing their face masks.

iPhone 12 users and above can now unlock the Face ID with their mask on.

This new update brings enhancements to the user experience, especially during COVID-19 since wearing a face mask is mandatory. The new Face ID lets users unlock their iPhones without taking out their masks.

Even though there are many benefits to this software update, Farah Nabila has stated that some users may encounter bugs that cause their iPhone's battery to drain faster.

“According to Apple, this is completely normal because the operating system performs background operations using the updated machine learning algorithms,” said Farah Nabila in an interview with Berita DIMENSi via WhatsApp.

Responding to the bug issue, she said that users should not be worried since Apple will eventually release a patch that will fix those issues.

Since all Apple devices have built-in security and privacy protections, iOS 15.4 will benefit all Apple users in general due to the security updates, and this update can make their iPhones more secure.

Other than unlocking an iPhone with the new unlock mechanism, Apple also has added 123 new emojis in total which includes a customizable skin tone for human-like emojis.

Some of the 123 emojis that were featured in iOS 15.4 are ‘melting face’, ‘face with peeking eyes’ and ‘face holding back tears’.

Shazida Aziz, 26, an admin in a corporate company that hopped into the trend of updating her iPhone 12 to iOS 15.4.

She stated that usually, her iPhone battery percentage will drain faster after updating to the previous software version, but the issue did not occur after she updated her iPhone to iOS 15.4.

“My battery health is also fine after I updated to iOS 15.4, and it does not drain easily while I was using my iPhone,” Shazida said during an interview with Berita DIMENSi via WhatsApp.

As an iPhone user since 2014, she said that the iOS 15.4 software update is convenient and useful for her as she can easily use the new Face ID with mask feature and tons of new emojis to be used.

She also advises others who are on the fence about updating their iPhones to do so. It provides numerous benefits while having no negative effects on their iPhone.

iOS 16 is on its way to being released by Apple in September 2022 with various new features that will leave a better user experience compared to iOS 15.

According to MacWorld, some new changes will be a new notifications display location, which will be placed at the bottom of the screen compared to the previous version.

There will also be some major changes to iMessage (messaging platform that works between Apple devices), where users can simply edit their sent messages if there were any typos or they can just simply unsend a sent message.

Apple users who have an iPhone 8 or later version should be looking forward to this new update soon as there will be more exciting new features that will enhance their experience in using Apple devices.
