STILL LIFE: THE KING’S LONG-AWAITED COMEBACK

SHAH ALAM - SHAH ALAM - The king of K-pop, BIGBANG, made a comeback on April 5 after four years on hiatus in which this time, they are officially back on the K-pop radar after releasing a digital single called Still Life.

According to South China Morning Post, Still Life which was released on their official Youtube and V Live account is an awaited moment by everyone especially their beloved fans, VIPs, as this is their grand comeback after four years of seclusion.

The last time they were active was in 2017 with an album titled MADE before T.O.P, G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung underwent their mandatory military service.

According to Allkpop, as soon as the agency, YG Entertainment announced BIGBANG’s comeback, many people expressed their excitement to see all four idols back on stage.

The stock price of YG also increased sharply, proving that their return to the music industry is indeed long-awaited.

According to Nur Hakimah Azlan, 22, a VIP since 2009, starting with the songs named Gara Gara Go and Bad Boy.

“After hearing about BIGBANG’s comeback, I felt really excited, happy and sad at the same time,” said Hakimah when contacted by Berita DIMENSi.

Hakimah also collects the full MADE album T.O.P version which was fully released in 2016 and G-Dragon’s solo album One Of A Kind that was released in 2012.

Meanwhile, another major K-pop fan, Nur Adilah Azahar, 21, expressed her joy since BIGBANG rarely makes ballad genres, but in this single, they provide a different mood from their other discographies.

Still Life is a slow pop song that tells the story of the good times when you were young, where four seasons have passed but they had to live their present life.”

“This song was also awaited by the public and since the beginning of its release, this song ranked first on the South Korean Music Chart,” said Adilah when contacted by Berita DIMENSi.

As a K-pop fan, she felt excited and happy because BIGBANG’s last single was in 2018, hence why the fans are waiting for their comeback.

Previously, BIGBANG was scheduled to perform at the 2020 Coachella Festival but had to be postponed due to the pandemic. Now, fans can satisfy their longing with BIGBANG through the song Still Life which can be streamed through various platforms.

According to Soompi, even though it is just a digital single, BIGBANG has proven that their magical touch never diminish as just a few hours after the song was released, it ranked first for hours in various world music charts such as iTunes, Genie, Melon and more.

Resulting in them being the first male idol group to achieve the highest Perfect All-Kills (PAK) and Charts All-Kills (CAK) in 2022, beating Stray Kids, IVE and more.

As they continue to break records, it has proven that BIGBANG still sits on the throne as the king of K-pop, which is believed by not just the VIPs, but everyone who is accustomed to the genre itself.

According to Allkpop, Still Life has gained over 140K unique listeners on Melon and 44K unique listeners on Genie and became the 2nd song that has the most unique listeners in 1 hour.

Unique listeners means the number of different accounts listening to that song that are usually made based on daily or total amount of the listeners.
