SHA2Z: DREAM DUO MADE IN UiTM
SHAH ALAM – It all began with a tiny aspiration from two Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Puncak Perdana students, on the path to becoming great musicians.
Shazriq Azeman began to express his love for singing when he was five years old. Faizzwan Shaari, on the other hand, has longed to be a well-known keyboardist since he was a child. They established the duet SHA2Z as a result of their aspiration.
“I started to show my interest in singing and my family has been supporting me ever since,” said Shaz, who is the main vocalist in this duo, during an interview session with Berita DIMENSi via Google Meet.
Meanwhile for Faiz, he is more into lyrics and poetry as well as playing the keyboard. “I played my part more as the sound maker for our group, I also wrote the lyrics,” said Faiz in an online interview via Google Meet with Berita DIMENSi.

How did it start?
When they both enrolled at UiTM Puncak Perdana in 2016, their relationship blossomed. Faiz studied film at the Faculty of Film, Theatre, and Animation, and Shaz earned a Diploma in Artistic Writing (FiTA).
Every year, UiTM Puncak Perdana hosts a competition called FiTA Got Talent, in which all students are welcomed to compete and showcase their talents, such as singing, acting, and writing. Shaz entered the competition as a soloist at first, however he was unable to go to the next level.

In 2018, FiTA once again hosted a new talent competition but has been renamed Clash of Talent where the entrees open to all UiTM branch in Selangor, including UiTM Shah Alam, UiTM Sungai Buloh and UiTM Puncak Alam.
Shaz has noticed Faiz’s talent in playing various types of musical instruments especially the keyboard and decided to make a collaboration with Faiz to join Clash of Talent.
Since then, they have been practicing together until they have advanced to the Semi-Final. They mashed up two songs, Berhenti Berharap with A Jar of Hearts for their semi-final performance. The dynamic duo started to gain interest from the students and on social media platforms when the video of their performance was posted.
They won first place in the competition's final round and because of this, videos of their final stage performance have gone viral on social media, attracting the attention of local celebrities such as Aepul Roza.
Since then, they have captured the hearts of the public with their performances, and have been invited to perform at Suria FM Tour, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, and other venues. When Aepul Roza, a well-known name in the industry, released their debut single, Sesuatu Yang Takkan Mungkin, in 2019, their career as a duet in the music industry reached its summit.
They've had to overcome obstacles as they seek to establish their brand in the industry. “We can say that almost every day we will see new faces like us, trying to build a career in the industry. We have to compete together with the new talents to survive in paving our way,” said Shaz.
“During the quarantine period, we were in a tight situation because our plans and projects for this year were disrupted. But we did not give up and keep on going making progress to carve our name and to entertain people with our songs. The love and support that we get from our families, friends and especially our fans have become our backbone to keep on creating masterpieces,” said Faiz
