Nijigen Expo successfully reunited the anime fans in Malaysia by holding a 2.0 event that is not just for cosplaying, but also for buying merchandise, having a runaway and providing entertainment and information.

For decades, anime has been formed for Japan's local products. They can come with different looks and genres because anime are not just an artwork.

In some cases, there can also be a cartoon series or movies that have their own themes, and concepts.

Malaysians, specifically the youths, are said to be really keen and look forward to events like the Nijigen Expo, such events that are frequently held overseas.

Thus, Malaysian fans are always missing out on the chance to join these types of events.

According to Nijigen Expo official Instagram, the event took place between 18 to 20 of March 2022 at Jumpa Sungei Wang.

It was a three-day event that took place from 10AM to 9PM and the entry cost was only RM 5.

The most exciting part is that participants can design their own anime costume using their own creativity when they cosplay a character.

Yusrina Adnan, 21, a visitor at Nijigen Expo said that she really enjoyed the three days event.

"Nijigen Expo is such an amazing experience especially for anime fans like me, there are a lot of fun things to do including cosplaying, mini games, photoshoot and booths,” she said during an interview with Berita DIMENSi through WhatsApp.

One of the special guests, Mikki Kairi or a famous Malaysia cosplayer also attended the event and it has attracted many people to come to that event.

“There were lots of booths that sold a variety of anime merchandise such as shirts, plushies, photocards, figures and canvas paintings.

“This has opened up a chance for anime fans to buy anime merchandise to add up to their collection or simply just to be kept as a memory from the event,” she added.

Azanami Abdullah, 25, one of the artists who participated in the Nijigen Expo 2022 stated that she mainly sell her original work such as art print, stickers, coloring sheets and also some fanarts which mainly come from Genshin Impact

“For the upcoming event I plan to add new stuff like keychain and button badges,” she said in an interview with Berita DIMENSi through Instagram.

Attending there is never a waste of money for the fans because they can benefit from the event in various ways.

As stated by Yusrina Adnan, the positive value that she gets from attending the event is respecting people’s interest.

By joining this event, it is also important for us to know our boundaries and bear in mind that those cosplayers are humans too.

“People should not be too obsessed by invading their privacy and carefreely touching them. Unfortunately, we met those kinds of people at the expo and they did not respect the cosplayers by doing such things,” explained Yusrina.

Based on a tweet by @aliaraub, Nijigen Expo will have their 3.0 event at the Mid Valley Exhibition Center (MVEC KL) from 19 to 21 of August.

Nevertheless, every anime fan should not miss out this opportunity to go to this wholesome event and experience the same enjoyment as everyone who had gone to Nijigen Expo.
