JOHOR BAHRU There is a long list of places that people can go after the pandemic ends, one of them is the beach. It can be one of the places to relieve your stress where you can enjoy and appreciate nature at the same time.


Now, let us explore the ocean breeze here in Johor!


1. Pulau Rawa, Mersing


Pulau Rawa lies in the southernmost point of the Malay Peninsula, Mersing. It was a few years ago when Pulau Rawa in Mersing became viral on Twitter, thanks to its beautiful scenery.


Pulau Rawa is a tropical resort, with clear blue water where we can enjoy the beauty of the waves. Other than that, tourists can also scuba dive there. The word rawa means white doves as there are plentiful flying in the skies at the island.


Pulau Rawa is owned by the Sultan of Johor and it has been developed with only two small resorts. It is an ideal spot for those seeking a secluded weekend getaway.

Pulau Rawa's famous gigantic water slides for thrill-seekers is one of the most noticeable features when you arrive there. There are several spots that you can visit there especially if you are an outdoor enthusiast.


One of the most famous places on Pulau Rawa is the Cactus Garden where there are lots of unique-shaped corals along the beach. There is also a place called Hilltop View, which showcases spectacular views of the South China Sea.


2. Pantai Air Papan, Mersing


Pantai Air Papan is located at Mersing famously visited by big families and friends for reunions and holidays. The locals and tourists often visit this beach before the pandemic.


Marzilah Aziz, 62, a regular to one of the villas in Mersing, said that Pantai Air Papan is ideal for recharging the mind, especially for retired people like herself.

“I particularly enjoy the beach here especially when I am staying at my favourite villa here, Villa De Papan. After decades in the education industry, I admired the cool breeze there.


"It relaxed my mind and I really recommend people to visit Pantai Air Papan at least once in their lifetime,” said Marzilah during a face-to-face interview with Berita DIMENSi.


3. Pantai Desaru, Kota Tinggi

The seaside resort of Desaru makes it a well-known town in Johor. The view is very beautiful especially when the sun sets. There are many resorts to choose from for your next vacation such as the Lotus Desaru Beach Resort and Spa, Westin Desaru Coast Resort, and Hard Rock Hotel Desaru.


Besides providing private beaches, these resorts offer a wide array of amenities to tourists. Ahmad Syafiq, 33, an active traveler said that out of all the resorts that he has ever visited, Westins Desaru Coast Resort provides the best hospitality.


“The Westins Desaru Coast resort provides the best services. My family and I went there during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). The resort has indeed adhered to the rules strictly,” said Ahmad during a face-to-face interview with Berita DIMENSi.


“If tourists did not wear their masks, the security guard would restrict them from going to the private beach even though it is an open space. Besides, some security guards provide extra masks for tourists in case of emergency.


“I really recommend everyone, especially Johoreans to visit Pantai Desaru and enjoy the ambiance here,” said Ahmad.
