Coordinated by the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sports Centre and the Department of Student Affairs, "Sukan Antara Fakulti (SAF)” will engage roughly 6 thousand students over the course of 18 days, from January 5 to 22.

SAF is an annual event organized by UiTM and will be held at the UiTM Shah Alam campus, with 24 different sports available for competition between both genders.

UiTM Shah Alam sports officer, Adde Shah Naddra Din, 38, said SAF has always sought to balance UiTM students in both academics and athletics.

According to Adde, the main goal of the SAF is to promote the participation of students at UiTM in order to guarantee that the students there continue to participate in sports.

"Faculty from UiTM Puncak Alam and UiTM Sungai Buloh are also involved, making a total of 18 faculties competing for this year, which makes SAF more exciting,” she said.

"SAF was postponed from its original date of December 2022 owing to the convocation and the fact that many students are preparing for their exams, but it still managed to recruit students," added Adde.

“Higher education institutions have a long history of producing both academic specialists and professional athletes, as proven by history.

“UiTM is undoubtedly one of the institutions that is active and has a significant impact on creating athletes.

"UiTM has produced many athletes who represent Malaysia, and some of their skills were found at sporting events like SAF," she said.

Some students may use SAF as a platform to showcase their abilities in leadership as well as in sports by working as managers or coaches.

"SAF can also offer students the chance to manage, plan, establish a solid team, and have a strong sense of self." added Adde

SAF Manager for esports of College of Computing, Informatics and  Media, Nazhan Nazeri, 22, stated that he found many talents throughout the recruiting process, some of which have great potential.

Nazhan looks forward to his team’s performance for SAF after the impressive performance displayed by his team during the selection.

“Some of them really shocked me throughout the selection process, which made it more difficult for me to decide who should be competing for SAF because they are fairly good. As a result, the selection process took a little longer,” said Nazhan.

He said that because students' success is not determined solely by academic factors, athletics have become one of the most crucial arenas for developing and growing all beneficial qualities.

"UiTM students can build character traits and values through SAF, such as a strong competitive spirit, the ability to obey the rules, a sense of goodwill, understanding, and high tolerance," he stated.
