I have learned many things while taking Japanese. I have learned a lot more that I would have by just watching Anime. I have also learned a lot more of the culture of Japan. Like how polite and formal so much of the speech is. I really love the Japanese Culture. Learning about is one of the reasons why I chose the Japanese langauge class. I struggled a lot through what we were learning all the way through. I would say at least learning how to read the language was just a huge step for me, as the grammar was just very difficult for me to learn. The language was just so intricate. The grammar was incredibly difficult to learn and so much more different than what is seen in english or spanish. Though it was difficult I believe I was still able to learn a lot of things I would have not known if I hadn’t taken the class. Such as how there are completely different sentences that describe overall politeness. In my semester I can at least say that I know how to at least express myself in certain things, though not as in depth as others in my class I at least know the bare basics. Learning Kanji was probably the most difficult part as I am not used to having "letters" having meaning and even away to pronounce it. So much of the world of Japanese was just so different and new I had trouble adjusting to the language. This foreign language may have beaten me but I will not allow it to defeat me. The differences of the language and its difficulty has made me love it for the challenge it presents me. This was by far the most interesting and fun language for me to learn.
