Rotating Solo & Group Rehearsal Schedule
Our schedule has been designed to provide each dancer with equal practice time and access to a faculty member.
This ensures all dancers are well-prepared for their competitive routines.
Important Notes:
You can coordinate with other families to swap your unsupervised time if necessary (much like switching shifts at work). This will allow some flexibility within the framework of the set schedule.
Week A for solos starts October 11th.
Week B for solos starts October 4th.
Look carefully - you should have one 30 minute block for every solo that you have. They may be at the same time each week, or they may not.
These are private rehearsals with a BDA faculty member. If needed, a substitute instructor may be assigned. Dancers must:
Arrive on time
Be in competition dress code with the proper shoes
Any dancer arriving without the correct attire/shoes will be considered absent and receive a demerit.
Unsupervised / Open Studio Time
Unsupervised time slots are studio-sponsored time for you to work on competition pieces, stamina, or technique. The space is for focused, purposeful rehearsal. Dancers can lose their time block if they are not using the space appropriately.
Dancers 11 and under may have a parent / guardian in the studio with them to help guide this rehearsal time. Dancers 12+ may not.
Group Rehearsal Times
You'll see the second tab at the bottom of the document. This details which pieces will be cleaned / worked on each week during our Saturday rehearsal times, starting September 19th, from 2:30 - 4:00pm. Your dancer is required to be at every class, for the full time block, even if they are not in a piece that is being cleaned. They will be able to use the waiting room for cardio, flexibility, music homework, characterization, lip syncing, etc.
You do not need to make note of the schedule for these rehearsals - this is for internal purposes only, and so dancers can be ready on time, and in the correct shoes before their session begins.
Looking at that schedule - there are only 10 cleaning sessions per piece between now and our first competition in March. Attendance is mandatory - please let us know ASAP if you have an excused scheduled absence (such as medical travel, etc.).
There will be rehearsals scheduled over Winter and March Break. (Not to say you can't go away during those times - but dancers in town can expect rehearsals).
Duet Rehearsal Times
These are also listed on the second tab at the bottom of the document. If your dancer is not in a duet, you can disregard those times.
Duets will not be given rehearsal time on Saturdays from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Duets will be given a rehearsal time slot immediately after group rehearsals from 4:00 - 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays. From January - May, these rehearsals will be moved to 4:30 - 5:00 p.m.
Conditioning Class
All Competition Team members will have a rotating Stretch/Strength/Flexibility class on Saturdays from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. This class will focus specifically on the technical skills in their competition pieces and has been split into 3 groups.
The schedule for this class is lsited on the third tab at the bottom of the document. Please note the days listed for your dancers group, as well as the full team classes.
The structure for our rehearsals comes from countless creative choices behind the scenes. We appreciate your trust in this process - it allows the entire team to move forward smoothly and make the most of our rehearsal time together.
