Spatial Pattern of Temperature:  The weather station observations have shown

• A spread of temperature across the city of 8-10 F during heat waves, for morning and afternoon.   

• In the morning the locations with highest heat occur in the inner-eastern city and the values decrease as you move to west and north to the city edge and into the county.

• In the afternoon there is more variability at smaller scales, with high values occurring at some stations near the city edge and some low values in the inner city. 

The differences in patterns of morning and afternoon temperature are shown below for measurements during the June 2025 heat wave.
