Track & Field is made up of many individual events that all contribute to the team.
Athletes may compete in running, jumping, or throwing events, and many will try multiple events throughout the season.
Sprints (100m, 200m, 400m)
Short races focused on speed, starts, and running form.
Middle Distance (800m)
A mix of speed and endurance where athletes learn pacing and finishing strong.
Distance (1600m)
Longer race focused on endurance and steady pacing.
Hurdles
Running while clearing barriers using rhythm, coordination, and technique.
Relays (4x100 & Medley)
Team races where athletes pass a baton to teammates. These emphasize teamwork and communication.
Long Jump
Sprint and jump as far as possible into a sand pit.
High Jump
Jump over a horizontal bar using technique and body control.
Shot Put
Throw a weighted ball using strength and technique.
Discus
A spinning throw of a weighted disc focusing on balance, timing, and coordination.
Athletes compete in small groups called heats or flights.
You are not racing everyone at the same time — just the athletes in your heat, then we put all the times/marks together!
