BCMG Bay-Wise Gardens
BCMG Bay-Wise Gardens
The BCMG Bay-Wise Garden demonstrates a design and plantings that effectively help reduce the issues degrading the health of the Chesapeake Bay. By turning areas of lawn into native plant beds with rain gardens where stormwater issues exist, you not only reduce the runoff that reaches the bay, but you help the local ecology by creating food and shelter for our wildlife. Consider taking these actions in your yard:
· Encourage wildlife, such as birds, pollinators, frogs and toads
· Conserve water in your landscape
· Limit use of fertilizers and pesticides
· Manage yard pests wisely with Integrated Pest Management
· Recycle yard waste for mulching and a natural fertilizer
· Plant Maryland native plants and reduce lawn area
