Below are the volunteer training topics we offer year-round. Click the agency icons at the bottom of the page for each location's training schedule and sign-up details.  Please note that some workshops may not be offered at every location.

New Volunteer Tutor or Classroom Aide Training

Are you looking for a way to make a positive difference in your community? Join our team of dedicated volunteers! Help an adult reach their educational goals like earning their high-school equivalency or improving their English and math skills.  Participants in this two-day orientation will learn how to become a tutor or classroom aide in our program.  No previous teaching experience is required.  However, 1:1 tutors should possess or be working toward a four-year college degree.  No degree is required to become a classroom aide. Participants may attend in-person or remotely via Zoom.  

Current Volunteer Tutor/Classroom Aides Workshops

These workshops are designed to support volunteer tutors and classroom aides who are currently working in our program by enhancing their teaching skills.  Every workshop starts with a volunteer round-table where tutors can discuss experiences, share tips, raise concerns and ask questions. This is followed by a professional development session aimed at helping tutors improve their skills. Workshops are open to all current volunteers.
