The cross device discovery and engagement model connects multichannel video programming distribution (MVPD) to retail and m-commerce purchases. MVPD (digital out-of-home, streaming, over-the-top or broadcast), is encoded with an Ad-ID (standard ad media identifier) which is logged by a native mobile application when the media is played on—or in proximity of—the mobile device.
When the mobile device enters a wireless radio field of a bluetooth beacon, the native app transmits the Ad-ID to the wireless radio beacon. If the beacon recognizes the Ad-ID, the beacon will then signal the native app, or (via an app bridge) another in-network API connected native app to launch and render content based upon referencing the stored Ad-ID.
