There is a legend in barrio San Rafael, however it's unclear if it's real or just a myth.
Irrigation is cursed
There is a child playing in the irrigation system every morning at one in the morning. The field workers tell this story every time they see the child, and only one person sees him at a time. This is because while people watch for the child at dawn, the child doesn't come out until just one person walks by, at which point the child comes out and plays more. A few months later, a child bathes in the irrigation system during the day and drowns. A worker saw the child and saved his life, which is why bathing in the irrigation system is prohibited. The belief is that irrigation is cursed due to the near drowning of three children.
That's the local legend in San Rafael, but very few people know about it right now due to the good irrigation and the fact that people are bathing in it.Â
