Once the problem is understood in detail, it is time to think about how to solve the problem. Clear sketches and drawings are used to help explain or communicate the idea to other people. Quick sketches with explanatory notes are used to present the first or initial ideas. The aim is to explore a wide range of ideas at this stage without spending too much time in any one idea.

Design an eight or six- note harp to recreate a well known tune.

- Go and get pen and paper, colouring pencils and your brain.
- Design/sketch a minimum of 6 designs for your brand new instrument. No design is too silly.
- After you've completed those 6 initial designs, take pics and add them to your presentation.
- Pick you favorite three and complete the COMPARISON OF IDEAS table below.
- Delete the one I have about cardboard and replace it with your own ideas.
- Do not forget to annotate (write) next to your drawings as much info as possible keeping in mind the following points, think of:
- shape (round, square, triangular, etc)
- colour (school colours, local colours)
- material (wood, plastic, metal, alternative)
- size (big, small, medium size, handheld)
- ergonomics (how would I hold it?)
With the 3 ideas in mind and annotations handy, make a comparison table in your SLIDE presentation and explore the following statements:
