Learning Intentions

Students will develop an understanding of design process and problem solving methods and explore the effect graphic design has upon the human environment from social responsibility, sustainability and interdisciplinary perspectives. Students will demonstrate proficiency in identified technical skills, understand and apply basic principles in the process of creating, analyzing, and evaluating graphic design solutions in relation to specific end uses and consumer needs. Students will demonstrate proficiency in research, writing, communication and presentation skills, while working collaboratively with their team members.

Success Criteria

Demonstrate fluency in the visual vocabulary and technical skills relevant to graphic design:

• Demonstrate excellence in typographic practice using text typography, display typography, and grid systems across analog and digital media.

• Display image-making expertise and the development of visual narratives using photography, illustration, and type-as-image across analog and digital media.

• Convey Ideas, clearly and confidently, in their work, their speech and their writing.

• Apply the rigor of research and conceptualization to their work via prototypes and presentations.
