I will be making videos, demos, and some code
EtherNet/IP is an industrial network protocol that adapts the Common Industrial Protocol to standard Ethernet.[1] EtherNet/IP is one of the leading industrial protocols in the United States and is widely used in a range of industries including factory, hybrid and process. One mistake some people call this they call it Ethernet and not EtherNet/IP. Ethernet is what EtherNet/IP run on and they are not the same thing. A lot of networks run on Ethernet for example Modbus TCP/IP and ProfiNet.
EtherNet/IP has two methods of communication, that i will talk about below.
This Video is how to setup the Rockwell PLC using the control Techniques AOI. This is a step by step video using Unidrive M700 or M750 with a Compact logix l32e .
This video show how to setup the PLC side. This video does not show you everything about the AOI just how to get it working. AOI stands for Add-On Instructions. AOI are blocks of code that make it easier to control a drive or something else.
Control call this AOI "PLC Controlled Motion"
Control Techniques AOI is a standardized motion control interface from a PLC to a Control Techniques drive. All of the drives within the Commander, Unidrive M and Digitax HD range can be controlled by at least 1 of the supplied motion interfaces. The nice part about this Drive and AOI is the motion is done in the drive and not the PLC. So the PLC does not have to be a motion PLC. You can use a basic Compact logix PLC and it will work as long as the FW is 17 or newer. Example Compact logix l32e
There are two sub categories of PLC Controlled Motion interfaces:
This functionality connect software has a wizard to help you setup the unit and more. Some of the machine selection are Gearbox, belt and pulley, ball screw, linear slide, worm drive or user defined. The wizard will setup you though setting up other stuff too like. Motor map, Option modules, Encoder setup , Machine units setup , Hard limits setup, Brake control, Network inputs and outputs, optimization user units, and Homing
All of this info plus more is found in the installer and release notes.
Our mission is simple: Help new programmers learn to program. Too many times we have seen others looking for or re-creating the same things over and over. We feel this needs to stop. If we find someone that has produce a quality video we will share it with you. We will strive to make learning as easy as we can without re-creating if possible.
